WinCo Foods Recalls Hoagie Rolls in 7 States Over Undeclared Sesame

Sandwich night just got a little more complicated for anyone with a sesame allergy. If you’ve got a bag of hoagie rolls in the pantry from a WinCo run, it’s worth two minutes to check the label before you build tonight’s sub.

What got recalled

WinCo Foods LLC, based in Boise, Idaho, is pulling back WinCo Foods Brand Hoagie Rolls (UPC 2-70552-00649-2, 16 oz / 454g bags) after discovering the packaging left sesame flour off the ingredient list and allergen statement. The rolls were made by United States Bakery and hit shelves with best-by dates running from September 10 through November 3, 2026 - basically the whole run currently in stores.

The recall covers WinCo locations in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. No illnesses have been reported, but for anyone with a sesame allergy or sensitivity, an undeclared allergen isn’t a “maybe” risk - it’s the kind of thing that can land someone in urgent care fast.

What to do

If you’ve got these rolls at home, don’t eat them if sesame is a problem for you or anyone you’re feeding. WinCo is offering refunds at any of its stores, no receipt drama needed. You can also call customer service at 1-800-824-1706 if you want to double-check your specific bag before tossing it.

Sandwich night, minus the guesswork

I build a lot of sandwiches around whatever bread is on sale, which is exactly how allergen mix-ups catch people off guard - you stop reading labels on repeat purchases. If you’re restocking rolls this week, it’s a good excuse to switch things up. My Italian grinder salad sandwich works with pretty much any sturdy roll you trust, and the chopped salad topping does most of the flavor work anyway, so swapping bread brands won’t throw off the recipe.
