Frequently Asked Questions
What makes matcha baked donuts different from regular donuts?
Matcha baked donuts are baked instead of fried and get their signature green color and earthy flavor from matcha green tea powder mixed right into the batter.
Can I use ceremonial-grade matcha for this recipe?
You can, but culinary-grade matcha is recommended for matcha baked donuts since it has a stronger flavor that holds up well against sugar and butter, and it's more budget-friendly.
How do I store matcha baked donuts?
Keep matcha baked donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days for the glaze to stay fresh longer.
Can I make matcha baked donuts without a donut pan?
A donut pan gives the classic ring shape, but you can also bake the batter in a mini muffin tin for matcha donut holes if you don't have one.
