Mini Ham & Cheese Sliders – Easy Lunchbox Sandwich Recipe

Soft slider buns layered with ham and melty cheese, baked together under a garlicky herb butter topping until golden and gooey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slider buns (Hawaiian rolls work great), left connected
  • 1 lb deli ham, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Poppy seeds or sesame seeds, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with foil or parchment paper.
  2. Without separating the rolls, slice the entire sheet of buns in half horizontally, keeping the top and bottom connected as one piece each.
  3. Place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish, then layer evenly with ham slices and cheese slices.
  4. Set the top half of the buns back on over the cheese to close up the sliders.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, Dijon mustard, honey, garlic powder, dried parsley, onion powder, and salt.
  6. Brush the butter mixture generously over the tops of the buns, letting it drip into the seams.
  7. Sprinkle poppy seeds or sesame seeds on top if using.
  8. Cover the dish loosely with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for another 5-8 minutes, until the tops are golden and the cheese is fully melted.
  10. Let cool for 5 minutes, then slice into individual sliders and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, swap the ham for turkey or add a layer of caramelized onions before baking. Leftover sliders reheat well wrapped in foil at 300°F for 10 minutes, making them ideal for meal-prepped lunchboxes throughout the week.
