Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread

A moist and buttery sweet bread with a crunchy sugar topping and plenty of chopped pecans. This Southern favorite is easy to make and perfect for sharing with coffee or as a dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together granulated sugar, brown sugar, beaten eggs, and vegetable oil until smooth.
  3. Stir in self-rising flour and vanilla extract until just combined.
  4. Gently fold in chopped pecans.
  5. Pour batter into prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the bread to cool in the dish for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use melted butter instead of oil. Dust with powdered sugar before serving for extra sweetness. This bread freezes well for up to 3 months.
