For the Crust:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 5 large eggs, separated
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup strawberry puree
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup whipped cream

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Beat egg yolks with 3/4 cup sugar until pale and thick. Stir in milk and vanilla.
  4. Fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add remaining 1/4 cup sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold egg whites into the batter. Pour into prepared dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cake cool for 10 minutes, then poke holes all over with a fork.
  8. Whisk together condensed milk, evaporated milk, heavy cream, and strawberry puree. Slowly pour over the cake.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Top with whipped cream and fresh strawberries before serving.
