Sausage Cheese Dip

A creamy, cheesy dip loaded with spicy sausage, perfect for parties and game day gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Chopped green onions or chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  2. Reduce heat to low and add the softened cream cheese to the skillet. Stir until the cream cheese is melted and combined with the sausage.
  3. Add shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Stir until all ingredients are well combined and the cheese is melted.
  4. Continue to cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the dip is hot and bubbly.
  5. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped green onions or chives. Serve warm with crackers, chips, or sliced vegetables.

Notes

For a milder dip, omit the crushed red pepper flakes. This dip can be made ahead and reheated gently before serving. Serve with sturdy dippers like pita chips or toasted baguette slices for best results.
