For the Crust:

  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Cook penne according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
  3. Add minced garlic, basil, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Add cooked penne and Parmesan cheese to the skillet. Toss until well coated and cheese is melted.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
