For the Crust:
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Cook penne according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
- Add minced garlic, basil, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add cooked penne and Parmesan cheese to the skillet. Toss until well coated and cheese is melted.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
