Prime Rib with Horseradish Cream Sauce

A classic prime rib recipe served with a tangy horseradish cream sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (6- to 7-pound) prime rib roast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. Rub the prime rib with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Place the prime rib in a roasting pan and put it in the oven. Roast for about 15 minutes per pound, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
  4. While the prime rib is cooking, prepare the horseradish cream sauce by whisking together the heavy cream, horseradish, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  5. Once the prime rib is done, let it rest for 20 minutes before slicing.
  6. Serve the prime rib with the horseradish cream sauce.

Notes

For a perfect prime rib, ensure it reaches an internal temperature of at least 130°F for medium-rare. Letting it rest before slicing helps retain juices. The horseradish cream sauce adds a delightful tanginess to the dish.
