Philly Cheesesteak Fries

A savory steak, pepper, and onion mixture coated in a creamy, cheesy sauce all resting on a mound of crispy crinkle-cut fries. Perfect for sharing or a hearty dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 cups milk, warmed
  • 8 ounces white American cheese, cubed
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper (white or black)
  • 1 pound ribeye steak
  • 2 tablespoons oil, divided
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, sliced 1/8 inch thick
  • 1 medium onion, sliced 1/8 inch thick
  • 1 bag frozen crinkle-cut fries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and cook frozen crinkle-cut fries according to package instructions until crispy.
  2. To make the cheese sauce, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.
  3. Gradually whisk in warmed milk and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in cubed white American cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced ribeye steak and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  6. Add remaining oil to the skillet and sauté sliced bell pepper and onion until tender and slightly caramelized.
  7. Return steak to the skillet with the vegetables and stir to combine.
  8. To assemble, place cooked fries on a serving platter, top with the steak and vegetable mixture, then pour the cheese sauce evenly over the top.
  9. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy.

Notes

Use ribeye steak for the best flavor and tenderness. The cheese sauce can be adjusted with different cheeses for variation. For extra crispiness, bake fries separately before assembling.
