Pizza Tacos

A bold and flavorful twist combining pizza and tacos with a savory meat filling of Italian sausage and pepperoni, topped with mozzarella and basil in warm tortillas.

  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 3 oz mini pepperoni
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • Pinch of crushed red pepper
  • 810 corn or flour tortillas
  • Mozzarella cheese, to taste
  • Fresh basil, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the sausage in a skillet, breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Once the sausage is cooked, add in the pepperoni and cook a few more minutes until the pepperoni starts to get a little crisp.
  3. Add in the pizza sauce and crushed red pepper flakes; cook a few minutes until heated through.
  4. Assemble the tacos by adding some of the meat mixture to each tortilla, then top with mozzarella cheese and basil.

Notes

Char the tortillas slightly before serving for extra flavor. The filling is bold; to mellow it, mix in ground beef with the sausage. Add veggies like peppers, onions, or mushrooms for a supreme pizza taco variation. Store filling in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat as needed.
