Old-Fashioned Peach Cobbler

A classic Southern dessert with juicy peaches and a buttery biscuit topping.

For the Crust:

  • 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix peaches, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Pour into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, whisk flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in melted butter and milk until just combined.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of batter over the peaches. Spread gently to cover most of the surface.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.
