Oktoberfest Pretzel Bun Beer Cheese Burger

A flavorful Oktoberfest-inspired burger featuring a juicy ground beef patty topped with rich German-style beer cheese, thick-cut turkey bacon, sautéed onions, whole grain mustard, and fresh arugula, all served on a soft pretzel bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 slices thick-cut turkey bacon
  • 1 cup German-style beer cheese
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
  • 1 cup fresh arugula
  • 4 pretzel buns
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (for sautéing onions)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
  2. Form ground beef into 4 equal patties, season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook turkey bacon in a skillet until crispy; set aside.
  4. Sauté sliced onions in olive oil or butter over medium heat until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Grill or cook beef patties to desired doneness, about 4-5 minutes per side for medium.
  6. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with beer cheese and allow it to melt.
  7. Toast pretzel buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
  8. Assemble burgers by spreading whole grain mustard on the bottom bun, adding the patty with melted beer cheese, topping with crispy bacon, caramelized onions, and fresh arugula.
  9. Place the top bun on and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use a high-quality German-style beer cheese for authentic flavor. Pretzel buns can be store-bought or homemade. Caramelizing the onions slowly enhances their sweetness and complements the savory burger.
