Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies

Soft and chewy cookies with bursts of maraschino cherries and rich chocolate chips.

For the Crust:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained and patted dry

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Gradually beat in the flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped cherries.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
