For the Crust:
1 box German chocolate cake mix
1 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
Prepare cake mix according to package directions using water, oil, and eggs. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
While cake is still warm, poke holes all over the top using the handle of a wooden spoon. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, evaporated milk, and vanilla. Bring to a gentle boil, then remove from heat.
Stir in coconut and pecans. Spread mixture evenly over the cake. Let cool completely before serving.
