For the Crust:
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Prepare cake mix according to package directions using water, oil, and eggs. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- While cake is still warm, poke holes all over the top using the handle of a wooden spoon. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, evaporated milk, and vanilla. Bring to a gentle boil, then remove from heat.
- Stir in coconut and pecans. Spread mixture evenly over the cake. Let cool completely before serving.
