Luxurious Caramel Chocolate Cupcakes

Decadent chocolate cupcakes filled with gooey caramel and topped with rich chocolate frosting.

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add water, vegetable oil, vinegar, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
  4. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full with batter. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  5. Using a small spoon, scoop out a small portion from the center of each cupcake. Fill with caramel sauce.
  6. For the frosting, heat heavy cream until just simmering. Pour over chocolate chips and let sit for 2 minutes, then whisk until smooth. Chill for 30 minutes before piping onto cupcakes.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
