Joe’s Crab Shack Crab Dip

A rich, creamy, and cheesy crab dip loaded with lump crab meat, bell peppers, and onions, baked until bubbly and perfect for serving with crackers or veggies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced yellow onion
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 ounces lump crab meat, flaked and picked over for shells
  • Sliced green onion, for garnish
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and butter with a mixer until smooth.
  3. Sprinkle in the seasoned salt and paprika and blend well.
  4. Stir in the diced yellow onion, green bell pepper, shredded mozzarella cheese, and lump crab meat by hand, mixing gently to avoid breaking up the crab too much.
  5. Spoon the mixture into a lightly greased small shallow baking dish.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly in the center.
  7. Remove from oven and top with sliced green onion and chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Drain any excess liquid from the crab meat to prevent a watery dip. Avoid overmixing once crab is added to maintain texture. For extra flavor, consider adding a squeeze of lemon juice or Worcestershire sauce. Optionally, sprinkle extra cheese on top before baking for a cheesy crust.
