Heavenly Chocolate Cheesecake Trifle

  • 1 package chocolate cake, baked and crumbled
  • 1 package (8-ounce) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8-ounce) container whipped topping, thawed and divided
  • 2 (3.9-ounce) packages instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips or chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bake and cool the chocolate cake according to package directions, then crumble into large chunks.
  2. In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in half of the whipped topping (about 2 cups) to create the cheesecake layer.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened.
  4. In a large trifle dish, layer half the crumbled cake, then half the cheesecake mixture, half the pudding, and half the remaining whipped topping. Repeat layers.
  5. Top with mini chocolate chips or shavings. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.

Notes

For best results, chill overnight to allow flavors to meld. Use store-bought chocolate cake for convenience, or bake from scratch. Garnish with fresh berries for a fruity contrast.
