Grilled Cheese Sloppy Joes

Two classics in one. Sloppy Joes and melty cheese in between two slices of crispy, toasty bread! Perfect for an easy weeknight meal or even lunch!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1/2 Cup Yellow Onion, Diced
  • 34 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 tbsp Burger Seasoning (such as Kinders Caramelized Onion Burger Seasoning)
  • 8 oz Tomato Sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • Texas Toast Bread
  • Mayonnaise (or butter)
  • Kraft American Cheese Slices or any kind of cheese you like

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the onions and garlic. Drain the excess grease if needed.
  2. Stir in the tomato paste, burger seasoning, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Mix well and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Spread mayonnaise or butter on one side of each Texas Toast slice. Place mayo side down on a hot nonstick pan or griddle. Place a slice of cheese on each slice, then add a few heaping spoonfuls of the sloppy joe mixture on one side. Flip the other slice on top to make a sandwich.
  4. Grill until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, try using a mix of cheeses or add a dash of hot sauce to the sloppy joe mixture. Texas Toast can be substituted with any sturdy bread.
