Fully Loaded Classic Chili Cheese Dog Casserole

A hearty and comforting casserole combining classic chili, hot dogs, and melted cheddar cheese baked to perfection for a fully loaded chili cheese dog experience.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 oz) can chili beans, drained
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 hot dogs, sliced lengthwise
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (16 oz) package refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  4. Stir in chili beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Spread the chili mixture evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Nestle the sliced hot dogs into the chili, pressing them slightly into the mixture.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  8. Cut biscuit dough into quarters and arrange over the cheese layer.
  9. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  10. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add diced jalapeños to the chili mixture. Serve with sour cream or chopped green onions for garnish. This casserole can be prepared a day ahead and baked before serving.
