Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 3 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 French baguettes or rolls
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Place beef chuck roast, onion, garlic, thyme, rosemary, and bay leaf in a slow cooker.
  2. Pour beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce over the beef.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours, until beef is tender and shreds easily.
  4. Remove beef from slow cooker and shred with two forks. Strain the cooking liquid to use as au jus.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice baguettes in half and toast lightly.
