Our Favorite Chicken Marinade

A simple, flavorful marinade that tenderizes chicken and infuses it with a perfect balance of savory, sweet, and tangy flavors. Ideal for grilling, baking, or pan-searing.

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
  2. Place chicken pieces in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish.
  3. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are coated.
  4. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight for best flavor.
  5. Remove chicken from marinade and discard the marinade.
  6. Cook chicken by grilling, baking at 375°F for 25-30 minutes, or pan-searing until internal temperature reaches 165°F and juices run clear.
  7. Let chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Marinate chicken overnight for maximum flavor and tenderness. Discard used marinade to avoid contamination. This marinade works well with all cuts of chicken.
