Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites

Delicious bite-sized soft pretzels perfect for snacking or parties.

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Divide the dough into small pieces and roll into bite-sized balls. In a large pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil. Boil pretzel bites in batches for 30 seconds each.
  6. Place boiled pretzel bites on the baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
