Easy Creamed Corn

This easy Creamed Corn takes less than 5 minutes of prep and is seriously delicious, making a perfect side dish with a creamy, buttery texture and a balance of sweet and savory flavors.

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 5 cups frozen corn, thawed
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1½ tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch cayenne pepper
  • Pinch ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add corn, heavy cream, salt, pepper, sugar, cayenne pepper, and nutmeg. Stir to combine.
  3. In a small bowl or large measuring cup, whisk together the milk and flour.
  4. Pour the milk and flour mixture into the corn mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Cook, stirring constantly for 4-5 minutes, or until thickened and corn is cooked.
  6. Season with additional salt, pepper, sugar, cayenne pepper, and/or nutmeg if desired.

Notes

This creamed corn is ready in under 15 minutes and can be adjusted to taste by adding more seasoning. It’s a great side dish for holidays or BBQs and is best served warm.
