Classic Cranberry Relish

A traditional, refreshing cranberry relish combining fresh cranberries and citrus for a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness, ideal for holiday meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries (about 3 cups)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large orange, zested and juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse cranberries and discard any soft or damaged ones.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine cranberries, sugar, orange zest, and orange juice.
  3. Add ground cinnamon and mix thoroughly.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld and for sugar to dissolve.
  5. Just before serving, optionally stir in chopped walnuts for extra texture.

Notes

1. For a smoother texture, pulse the mixture briefly in a food processor before refrigerating. 2. This relish can be made up to two days ahead and stored in the refrigerator. 3. Adjust sugar quantity according to your preferred balance of tart and sweet.
