For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Fold in diced apples.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with half the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Repeat with remaining batter and cinnamon-sugar.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Whisk powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over cooled bread before serving.
