Country Apple Fritter Bread

A deliciously moist and spiced apple bread with a sweet cinnamon swirl and glaze topping.

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Fold in diced apples.
  5. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
  6. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with half the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Repeat with remaining batter and cinnamon-sugar.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Whisk powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over cooled bread before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
