Christmas Puppy Chow

A festive holiday snack combining crunchy Chex cereal coated in a rich chocolate, peanut butter mixture and dusted with powdered sugar, enhanced with holiday M&Ms and pretzels for extra crunch and color.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 cups confectioner's sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups holiday M&Ms
  • 2 cups thin pretzels

Instructions

  1. Chop the semisweet chocolate into small chunks and cut butter into pieces. Place both in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Melt chocolate and butter in the microwave on medium power, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth (about 2 minutes).
  3. Add peanut butter, vanilla extract, and kosher salt, then mix until smooth and combined.
  4. Pour Rice Chex cereal into a large mixing bowl.
  5. Add the chocolate-peanut butter mixture to the cereal and gently stir until all pieces are coated.
  6. In a large zip-top bag, combine confectioner's sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder.
  7. Add the coated cereal mixture to the bag (in batches if needed) and shake until well coated with the sugar mixture.
  8. Add holiday M&Ms and pretzels and mix gently to combine.
  9. Spread the mixture on wax or parchment paper to cool and set if desired before serving.

Notes

Use chopped chocolate bars instead of chocolate chips for a smoother melt. Shake the cereal coating in batches for even coverage. Store in an airtight container for freshness. Festive M&Ms and pretzels add both texture and holiday color.
