Christmas Crack

Christmas Crack is a sweet and salty holiday treat made with saltine crackers layered with toffee, chocolate, and festive toppings. It’s easy to make and perfect for sharing during the holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 1 cup (2 sticks / 227 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200 g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup holiday sprinkles or chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a 10×15-inch baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
  2. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it boil for 3-5 minutes, until it thickens slightly.
  4. Pour the hot toffee mixture over the crackers, spreading it evenly to cover all crackers.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  6. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee layer. Let sit for 1-2 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate into a smooth layer.
  7. Sprinkle with holiday sprinkles or chopped pecans if desired.
  8. Let cool completely at room temperature, then break into pieces and serve.

Notes

Use a candy thermometer for best results; cook toffee to 280°F (138°C). For a festive twist, try different chocolate flavors or toppings. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
