For the Crust:
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil, and eggs. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread half of the caramel sauce over the top and sprinkle with half of the pecans.
- Top with the second cake layer. Spread remaining caramel sauce and pecans over the top.
- In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream until steaming. Pour over chocolate chips in a bowl. Let sit for 1 minute, then stir until smooth.
- Pour ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides. Let set before serving.
