Cheesy Chicken Noodle Casserole

A comforting and creamy casserole featuring tender chicken, egg noodles, and a rich cheese sauce baked to golden perfection.

  • 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup crushed buttery crackers or breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook egg noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add shredded chicken, cooked noodles, and 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese to the mixture; stir until well combined.
  5. Pour mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. In a small bowl, mix crushed crackers with melted butter; sprinkle evenly over the casserole.
  7. Top with remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
  9. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of dried thyme or parsley to the cheese sauce. Using freshly shredded cheese improves melt and taste. Leftovers reheat well in the oven or microwave.
