Cheddar Bay Hamburger Casserole

A hearty, comforting casserole featuring seasoned ground beef, creamy mushroom sauce, and a cheesy Cheddar Bay biscuit topping, inspired by the flavors of Red Lobster’s famous biscuits.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (7.5 oz) package Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 (10.5 oz) cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix, water, and 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until well combined and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until beef is no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  4. Season beef with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and remaining 1 cup cheddar cheese. Mix well and spread evenly in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit mixture on top of the beef mixture, forming 5–6 biscuits.
  6. Bake for 20–30 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, parsley, garlic powder, and dill. Brush over the baked biscuits before serving.

Notes

For best results, use freshly shredded cheese instead of pre-shredded for smoother melting. Feel free to add sautéed vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor and nutrition. If you prefer, substitute the Cheddar Bay biscuit mix with your favorite biscuit dough.
