Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits Copycat

A copycat recipe for the famous Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits, featuring cheesy, buttery biscuits with a garlic butter glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 4 tablespoons butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup butter (for garlic butter)
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425° degrees F.
  2. Line or grease a baking sheet.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and kosher salt.
  4. Add the vegetable shortening and butter; cut in with a fork or pastry knife until crumbly and butter is in pea-size pieces.
  5. Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Stir in the milk just until the mixture is moistened and dough comes together.
  7. Drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet in scant 1/4 cup portions about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake until golden, about 15 to 17 minutes.
  9. Meanwhile, melt the butter with the smashed garlic in a small saucepan over medium heat; cook for 1 minute.
  10. Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley.
  11. Brush the warm biscuits with the garlic butter and serve.

Notes

Do not overwork the dough to keep the biscuits tender. Brush the biscuits immediately after baking with the garlic butter for best flavor.
