4 from 2 reviews

A rich dessert featuring Devil’s Food Cake soaked with caramel and sweetened condensed milk, topped with whipped cream and chocolate covered toffee candy bars for an indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (18 ounces) Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • Eggs, oil, and water as called for on the cake mix box
  • 7 ounces (1/2 can) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups caramel sauce
  • 8 ounces cool whip, thawed (or fresh whipped cream)
  • 3 chocolate covered toffee candy bars, chopped (e.g., Heath or Skor bars)

Instructions

  1. Bake cake according to package directions for a 9×13 baking dish. Let cool 10 minutes.
  2. Poke holes all over the cake with a fork.
  3. Pour caramel sauce evenly over cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
  4. Pour half of the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the caramel layer.
  5. Sprinkle chopped 1 candy bar evenly on top.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for several hours until fully chilled.
  7. Remove plastic wrap and spread cool whip or fresh whipped cream evenly over the top.
  8. Sprinkle chopped remaining 2 candy bars over the whipped cream layer.
  9. Cut into pieces and serve.

Notes

Use toffee bits instead of candy bars for even better flavor. Refrigerate for several hours to allow caramel and sweetened condensed milk to soak fully into the cake. This dessert serves 12.
