Chinese Chicken and Broccoli

A classic Chinese takeout-style dish featuring tender chicken and crisp broccoli in a savory sauce.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced thin
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, sugar, and chicken broth to make the sauce. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add chicken and stir-fry until cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add remaining oil to the wok. Stir-fry garlic and ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until bright green.
  4. Return chicken to the wok. Pour in the sauce and stir well. Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Garnish with red pepper flakes if desired and serve hot over rice.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
