For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.

  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla and mashed bananas.
  4. Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk to the banana mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in toasted pecans.
  5. Divide batter evenly between pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
