Baked Pears with Walnut Oat Crumble

  • 4 ripe USA Pears, halved and cored
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons cold butter, cubed
  • Vanilla ice cream or yogurt for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange pear halves cut-side up in a baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine oats, walnuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Add cold butter and mix with fingers until crumbly.
  3. Divide topping mixture evenly among pear halves, pressing gently.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes until pears are tender and topping is golden brown.
  5. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or yogurt if desired.

Notes

For best results, use firm-ripe pears that will hold their shape. The crumble topping can be prepared ahead and refrigerated. Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
