For the Crust:
- 1 package phyllo dough (16 oz)
- 2 cups unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cups finely ground pistachios
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Mix ground pistachios, 1/2 cup sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Layer half the phyllo sheets in the dish, brushing each with melted butter.
- Spread the pistachio mixture evenly over the phyllo layers.
- Layer remaining phyllo sheets on top, brushing each with butter.
- Cut baklava into diamond or square shapes before baking.
- Bake for 50 minutes or until golden and crisp.
- Meanwhile, boil water, 1 1/2 cups sugar, honey, and lemon juice for syrup. Simmer 20 minutes.
- Pour hot syrup over baked baklava. Let cool completely before serving.
